This week's episode features an interview with Michelle Hansen (michelle.hansen@state.co.us) and focuses on Colorado's new "Action Plan" to prevent diabetes.  While Colorado's prevalence of diabetes remains lower than the national average, just like our obesity numbers, our rates overall continue to rise.  Diabetes remains one of Colorado's top 10 leading causes of death and some estimates place of the total cost of diabetes in Colorado at more than $2.5 billion dollars, including excess medical costs and lost productivity.  The aim of the "Action Plan" is to galvanize the local, state, federal and private sector partners to stop diabetes in adults with pre-diabetes before it starts.
